Hello! My name is Christina Wildau and I am incredibly honored to be your Mrs. New Mexico America 2017. I have some big plans and goals to fulfil this year with my title and my platform which I call Connecting Kids to College. Working in higher education has taught me so much about the value of a college degree and as Mrs. New Mexico, I want to encourage the state’s children and teens to focus on their education and to pursue a college degree to achieve their future career goals. As a current part-time student pursing a degree in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Computer Programming, I am also a huge advocate for women in STEM fields.

In New Mexico, we as a community need to come together to make sure our students have the resources they need to obtain a solid foundational education. The other part of my platform poses an effort to reduce the number of children going to school on an empty stomach or malnourished. When they can spend their time and energy focusing on their schoolwork without worrying about whether or not they will be able to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner each day, they will be able to earn better grades. By earning better grades, they will have the confidence to pursue their educational ambitions and in so doing, earn a college degree and get a stable job, ending the cycle of poverty in our state. As Mrs. New Mexico, I want to help bring the community together to achieve this goal for our society. I also want to give these students the confidence they need to reach their personal goals.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from St. Pius X High School. I then graduated from Central New Mexico Community College with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Integrated Studies, and from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. I love public speaking, singing, shopping, make-up artistry, sewing, fashion design, spending time with my family, and raising my wire-fox terrier puppy with my wonderful husband Robert.

I look forward to all the adventures this year will bring, and I am so thankful for the blessings I have received every step of this journey.

I look forward to serving you!
